Old English Fiddle

The original Fiddle design appeared in the 1780’s and its name derived from the handle being shaped like a violin body. It was often used as a basic shape for more decorative styles such as Fiddle Thread and Shell. The Old English pattern is echoes in the pip on the reverse of the handle.
